For seven years I have been involved with community service. My first service experience was with City Year Young Heroes in Washington, D.C. As a “Young Hero” I repainted schools and renovated/cleaned up public parks. When I entered high school, I became involve with service through Campus Ministry. During my Sophomore year, I became a retreat leader for Freshman. As a retreat leader, I volunteered at elementary schools and soup kitchens. From Sophomore year through Senior year I became a camp counselor for Camp Good Counsel (camp for disadvantaged children).
Currently as a college student, I am involved with the Center for Community Service and Justice (CCSJ). Last semester (Fall 2016) I served at Walter P. Carter elementary in the Acts4Youth program on Thursdays. This was a mentorship for middle school children. This service experience was new challenge for me to serve as a leader and guide children in their lives.
